Introduction:

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh announced that the Agneepath Scheme would increase employability. It is a new human resource management scheme for the Indian army which would help the armed forces to select candidates for 4 years. This scheme aims at enhancing skills and gaining experience during the service. Any person who wants to join the Agneepath Scheme can enroll after qualifying for Class 10. They would receive their Class 12 certificate after completing their 4 years engagement period based on skills attained by them.

Agniveer:

The candidates selected through the Agneepath Recruitment Scheme are called Agniveers. An agniveer will get employment opportunities in different sectors.

Any person between the age of 17 years 6 months to 21 years is eligible for the scheme and thus, will have the opportunity to serve in the armed services for 4 years, including the training period.

Opportunity to join the Indian Army:

After 4 years of service in the armed services, an Agniveer is retained in the army. The army will have a total of 25% of Agniveers who are eligible and possess the requisite skill.

Annual Package:

The government has announced the Seva Nidhi Scheme for the Agniveers. In the first year, an Agniveer will get a salary of 30 thousand rupees per month. They will be provided with facilities of the Employees Provident Fund. An Agniveer will get an annual package of 4.76 lakhs in their first year. By the fourth year, the annual package would be 6.92 lakh rupees.

Conclusion:

An Agniveer will also be entitled to hardship, risk, dress, and travel allowances. They are accredited to get the full payment with interest in the non-service period, and Seva Nidhi is completely tax-free.
